Fall Planting and Root Fertilization

We’re right in the middle of fall planting season, an ideal time to give your landscape a strong start before winter. During fall, soil temperatures stay warm (around 60 degrees), creating the perfect environment for root growth.

Plant roots continue to grow actively until the soil cools below 40 degrees. That means anything planted now will have months to establish a strong root system, leading to healthier growth and better blooms next spring. Because of this, we recommend installing new plantings now, especially in areas where perennial beds have struggled to establish.

Root Fertilization for Trees and Shrubs

Fall is also the best time to root-feed both mature and newly planted trees and shrubs. Using professional subsurface equipment, we apply a blend containing beneficial mycorrhizal fungi, living organisms that naturally support plant health and soil vitality.

These fungi form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots, expanding their reach for nutrients and water while improving resistance to stress and disease. The mix includes yucca plant extract, a natural wetting agent and microbial stimulant, to further boost results. Research shows that within just two months of treatment, mature trees develop stronger, more active feeder roots, which are essential for long-term health and vitality.

We stand behind our work and guarantee our plantings, so if we recommend it, you can be confident it’s the right time.
