Every Year in April the Arbor Day Foundation celebrates the importance of trees.
According to www.arborday.org :
Trees provide the very necessities of life itself. They clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul. But these life necessities are threatened around the globe.
Here are some important statistics of the value of trees to a community.
Trees can add value to your home, help cool your home and neighborhood break the cold winds to lower your heating costs, and provide food for wildlife.
The net cooling effect of a young, healthy tree is equivalent to ten room-size air conditioners operating 20 hours a day- U.S. Department of Agriculture
One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people – U.S. Department of Agriculture
The planting of trees means improved water quality, resulting in less runoff and erosion. This allows more recharging of the ground water supply. Wooded areas help prevent the transport of sediment and chemicals into streams. – USDA Forest Service
Consider Planting a Tree
Trees provide the very necessities of life itself. They clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul. But these life necessities are threatened around the globe.
Remember, it is important to remember that proper tree care starts when you select a tree and that what you do to your tree in its first few years of life will affect its shape, strength, and even its life span. This includes mulching, watering and pruning. Nature’s Guardian Inc. has a Certified Arborist on staff and can help you with all of your tree care needs; planting, pruning and identifying pest and disease problems.
